Friends and Volunteers
The Water Tower is managed entirely by volunteers. Your support is vital to us, as only with it we can successfully maintain the Water Tower, the Hermitage, Folly Bridge and the Historic Landscape Garden.
Your help enables us to open this unique building and historic garden to the general public for their pleasure and your enthusiasm will inspire them.
There are many opportunities for you to help, if you wish to do so, with the fund raising or general activities. However whether you wish to visit occasionally or take more of an active part in the team, whatever your skills and interests and wherever you live there will be a welcoming place for you as a volunteer or Friend of the Carshalton Water Tower.
For a modest fee you can become a Friend of the Carshalton Water Tower. As a Friend you will be part of a very active group formed by the Trustees of the Water Tower in 1991 and developed in 2002 to encompass the historic garden.
You will have the opportunity to visit this elegant building, participate in more activities, assist and follow in the improvements to the Water Tower, Hermitage, Folly Bridge & garden meeting with people with similar interests.
You are entitled to:
- Free entry to the Tower when open to the public,
- Invitations to lectures
- Private views of exhibitions
- Social events specially organised for the Friends
- Advance notice of concessions
- Limited editions of sales promotions in the shops
- Special prices on certain events
- Special rates if you want to hire the Water Tower or tour the Gardens
Making a Donation
If becoming a Friend isn't for you but you would like to make a contribution in the upkeep of the

The trust has no paid staff and all donations go to the Carshalton Water Tower and Historic Garden Trust and are used for the upkeep, fund raising, and the ongoing restoration of the site

All donations are very much appreciated and gratefully received
